Divinity Bound (demo)
Premise
You are a shattered god imprisoned inside a sinister machine. The Architect built this place specifically to keep you contained and to harvest your divine essence in order to power the Wardens, a race of biomechnical abominations. You must escape to survive and return to your former glory, but the Wardens have been watching your every move for eons...
Combat Basics
Combat is turn-based. Each turn follows this order:
- Any beginning-of-turn passive effects resolve
- You roll your Ember dice by clicking the Cast button (the enemy rolls dice, too)
- The enemy reveals what it intends to do
- You assign your embers to actions and click End Turn
- Your actions resolve, then the enemy acts
- Fatigue is recovered equal to the sum of unused dice faces
- Any end-of-turn passive effects resolve
- Repeat
To roll your embers, click Cast Embers, and then click on the dice in the middle section of the screen. A pop-up menu will appear showing you options for the different actions you can take.
- Strike - deal damage at die value
- Ward - gain Ward at die value
- Mend - heal Vitality at half die value (rounded up)
A Few Things Worth Knowing
- You cannot skip the enemy's turn or interrupt it. Plan your Ward before you end your turn.
- Fatigue recovery is not guaranteed to bring you back to full. Spending large ember values drains Fatigue quickly.
- Ward resets at the start of each turn. It does not carry over unless a passive ability says otherwise.
- The enemy's Ward also persists until its next action phase. If it gained Ward last turn, that Ward is still there when you strike.
- Some passives only trigger once per floor, or have other conditions. The Message Log will tell you when they proc.
- If a node appears on the map without a path connecting it, it is not accessible. Choose your path before proceeding. You cannot backtrack on the map.
Feedback
This is an early demo. Everything you see is subject to change.
If something feels wrong, unclear, or broken, please let me know. That is exactly the kind of feedback that is useful! Note what happened, what turn it was, and what actions you had taken. The more specific, the better.
Thank you for playing!
